Al Lindsey
President & Charter President
Al's journey with Kiwanis began in 2018, and since then his leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact on our community.
From 2018 to 2024, Al served as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sayville, where he held multiple leadership roles including Past Distinguished President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, and Division Membership Chair.
His commitment to service and growth earned him recognition as a New York District Distinguished Kiwanian (2023–2024) — one of the highest honors in the district.
Al is the Charter President of the Kiwanis Club of Smithtown-Saint James, helping launch a new era of service locally. Through his leadership, he has sponsored over 40 new Kiwanis members, strengthening the organization's impact for years to come.
Today, he continues to give back as the Advisor for the Smithtown Kiwanis K-Kids, mentoring young leaders and inspiring the next generation of community servants.
Outside of Kiwanis, Al is a local banking professional with over 20 years of experience and a proud 13-year resident of Saint James. He's a devoted husband and father of two. His sons, Matthew and James, are Charter Members of Smithtown Kiwanis K-Kids — with Matthew serving as current President and James serving on the Board of Directors. Service truly runs in the family.
Julie DeMartini
President Elect
Julie DeMartini is an optometrist with 14 years of experience who lives in St. James with her husband and three children.
Her Kiwanis family roots run deep — she was a Key Club member at Wantagh High School and served as Lieutenant Governor from 2003 to 2004. During high school, she organized a Relay for Life event that raised $100,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Julie has continued that spirit of service as an adult, working alongside Al Lindsey to establish a K-Kids program at St. James Elementary School, where two of her sons are actively involved — one as treasurer and the other on the board of directors.
She also helped form a Builders Club in Nesaquake and is currently working to establish Key Clubs at both Smithtown High School East and West.
